Yahoo Screen Revives “Community”

nbc-community-logo-titleWell, fans are one step closer to #sixseasonsandamovie.  Yahoo Screen, an online service I hadn’t heard of until today, has picked up Community for a sixth season, consisting of 13 episodes.

No word yet on if this is the final season, but according Joe Adalian on Twitter, a number of sources have indicated this will be the final 13 episodes.  Which means a movie is next, right?

Sony, the company behind Community, has been able to keep low-rated shows on the air for a number of years, including, most notably, ‘Til Death.  The now un-cancelled Community also adds to a list of Sony Pictures Television series to be cancelled, and then later revived: Drop Dead Diva, and Unforgettable.

The renewal announcement came just in time.  Deals for the actors on the series were set to expire July 1st, tomorrow.
